Foster A Young Puppy
If you’re looking for a way to give back to your community and help pups in need, the best thing you can do is to foster a puppy dog. Why? Because puppies are like humans: they need to be loved, they need to be understood, they need to be appreciated, and they need to be cared for. If you want to be a dog foster parent, you need to be prepared to give a lot of love, time and effort to the new pup.

Things to Consider Before You Foster A Dog
Fostering animals is a great way to help homeless animals. Foster parents help alleviate overcrowding and give them temporary homes. They also help animals who are recovering from surgery, injury or illness, and those that suffer from anxiety and kennel-stress.
There are many different types of dogs available as fosters. Some dogs need more care than others. You should be aware of the type of dog you want to adopt. This will help you decide if you’re willing to provide the necessary care.
Puppies are very cute but they’re also very needy. Foster parents should consider adopting older or more experienced dogs instead.

What types of dogs are placed in foster care?
Our foster program mainly supports dogs needing extra care, or dogs with medical needs, or dogs with behavioral issues. We do not accept dogs who need to be trained, or who are aggressive towards other dogs or people. Dogs who are too much trouble to handle are often placed into boarding facilities.
Young adult dogs needing extra training. These are typically large breeds between 6 months and 2 year old. Dogs suffering from shelter stress who are in need of an active home environment. Sick, wounded or post-surgery dog, or dogs with special health needs. Seniors that will be more comfortable living in a home environment.

Why Foster and is it safe?
Animals need to be taken care of by people. People should help animals because it helps other people as well. Foster care is needed when there are too many animals in shelters. When someone takes an animal out of the shelter, it means that another person gets a chance to adopt an animal. Our dogs get checked out by a veterinarian before being sent to a new home. We try to match them up with compatible dogs in their new homes. We also make sure that the dogs aren’t aggressive or dangerous towards each other.
Dulce also makes sure that the dogs are treated well at their adopted houses. She will follow up after the first week to check on how things are going. We make sure the dog has been vaccinated and given flea treatments and she checks if the pup or dog is still healthy.
Remember, the dog shelter is not for dropping your unwanted dog or puppies. On the contrary, it’s for taking care of unwanted dogs. If you don’t like the idea of having a dog around, then please keep looking for a good home for your dog.
If you think you might be able to take care of a dog, then go ahead and apply!
