Help Us Give Dogs A Second Chance
The ‘Animals are our Friends Foundation’ (AaoF) was established in 2013 by Dulce Bonifacio in Curaçao and is dedicated to the shelter and protection of stray dogs. We just focus on rescuing stray dogs in Curaçao. When we find a dog outside in need we will do everything possible to save this animal’s life.We will give the dog food and water, clean it up, and then take it to the vet.
When we find an owner, we will contact them and ask them to come and pick up the animal.
We will also try to find the owner of the animal. Sometimes people who abandon animals usually return to claim them.
For these activities, we need funds to create more space to shelter these dogs. This is why we have been working hard on our new Dog Shelter in Playa Canoa! We are looking for sponsors for the new fencing that will protect the dog runs and with other building materials.
We depend on the public and companies for their help is greatly appreciated because we are not finished yet and need to set some important steps to make or goals.
If you can please donate 5,- Euro (Naƒl 10,-) today to save a dog or adopt a dog and make a difference!
LATEST NEWS JANUARY 2023
Dulce Bonifacio has attended to more than one hundred stray canines in her dwelling and as a result has initiated construction of a dog shelter in Playa Canoa in the northern area of Curaçao, to offer extended space and superior care for the animals.
Since 1994, Dulce has been trying to legally acquire the property. After a previous trial in April 2022, the judge and the prosecutor showed understanding for the situation. The VVRP ministry had agreed that a permit was in the works for the dog shelter and would be completed, but now they have suddenly changed course by coming up with different plans.
Dulce was notified by the Ministery of VVRP that the dog shelter had been constructed unlawfully on public property and that the VVRP Ministry had plans for their own intentions for the area. The government has proposed an alternative location for Dulce, provided she meets the conditions. Despite this, Dulce is contesting the decision and is not willing to comply.
Dulce requires your support in order to maintain and further construct the current shelter in Playa Canoa. She has already enlisted the assistance of a lawyer and has accumulated sufficient evidence that she will be successful.
The groundwork for the dog shelter has been established, and completion of the project will ensure the dogs have a comfortable living environment. Do you agree that the dog shelter should remain? Please consider donating via our donation page to ensure the strength and sustainability of the project. Collaboratively, we are resolute in achieving our objectives.
Meet the volunteer team
I am looking for donations or help with building materials for our new dog rescue shelter at Playa Canoa.
We’ve been working hard! We are waiting for a sponsor for the new fencing that will protect the dog runs. While preserving part of the vegetation, the runs will be separated and organized by this galvanized fence. The new dog houses in form of a bus will provide shade, and these are placed on the first runs. The terrain has been excavated so that the water drainage pipes can be quickly extended and connected to the deep water well near by. Help from Construction companies is greatly appreciated because we need to set some important steps.
When the two fenced-in areas are completely done and water can be pumped in from the water well the first dogs will be moved in so we can continue the work while the dogs can freely roam around in the first two runs. We hope you can help by donating so we can succeed in raising funds to cover these costs.
